To all Recreational User Groups and Researchers and Collaborators re St Williams Conservation Reserve reopening for all permitted uses
We are pleased to let you know that Ontario Parks has decided to reopen St Williams Conservation Reserve to all permitted uses as of today, Friday May 22nd2020. Note that this is the only Conservation Reserve in Ontario that is opening to all uses at this time.
Please be aware that there will be many different users out and about in different parts of the Conservation Reserve including turkey hunters (till end of May), walkers, naturalists, runners, dog walkers, mountain bikers (red trails and multiuse trails), horse riders, dirt bikes & ATVs (yellow multiuse trails only), researchers, SWCRCC habitat technicians and biologists, and Ontario Parks staff.
NEW: If you notice unauthorized activities at the St. Williams Conservation Reserve please report it to the Turkey Point Provincial Park Enforcement Line at: 519-718-0211
Information on permitted uses at the SWCR is available on the website at: https://swcr.ca/permitted-activities/. Maps showing the authorized trail systems at each tract can be downloaded from this webpage: https://swcr.ca/maps/. I’ve also attached a copy of the SWCR brochure that has information about the user code of conduct and the trail maps. Additional information about the Conservation Reserve is available on www.swcr.ca website and various social media platforms (facebook, twitter, Instagram).
If you are out and about at the CR you will see that the St Williams Conservation Reserve Community Council has installed 911 signs at many of the trail heads to facilitate emergency response. The trail maps will be updated this year to show these numbers.
